Polygons

Polygons - Point & Size

Polygons - Corner Points

Polygons - Multi-Point

There are three Polygon generators, Polygons - Point & Size, Polygons - Corner Points and Polygons - Multi-Point, that provide alternative polygon construction methods. The first lets you draw regular polygons via a selectable origin point and height and width sliders. The second lets you draw regular polygons interactively in the Canvas using two bounding point controls. The third lets you draw arbitrarily-shaped polygons of up to 8 sides by placing the vertex points in the Canvas using point controls.

The Geometry sections for the first two generators contain a Shape dropdown that lets you select kind of polygon to draw: triangle, rectangle, pentagon, hexagon or octagon.

Polygons - Point & Size

The Origin point control sets the position of the polygon's origin on the canvas and that origin can be set to be the center, left, right, top or bottom of the graphic using the Origin Location dropdown. The Height, Width, Scale and Rotation controls are used to set the size and orientation of the graphic. Selecting the 1:1 Aspect Lock checkbox disables the Width slider and always causes even-sided polygons to be drawn whose size is set by the Height slider.

Polygons - Corner Points

The two corner point controls can be used to set the bounds of the polygon in the Canvas. To help identify the points in the Canvas, you can enable the Show Corner Labels checkbox which displays point numbers next to the points. These labels are not visible in rendered video. Note that you may have to switch the Canvas to Image+Wireframe mode to view the point labels.

Polygons - Multi-Point

The Multi-Point polygon generator contains a Number of Points slider that lets you set the number of vertices in the polygon, between 3 and 8. A set of point controls, Point 1 through Point 8, are used to position the corner points for each vertex in the polygon. Only as many point controls are active as selected in the Number of Points slider. To help identify points in the Canvas, you can enable the Show Point Labels checkbox which displays point numbers next to each point. These labels are not visible in rendered video.

The control panels for both generators are arranged in sections, with different Geometry sections as shown, followed by common sections for controlling other attributes of the graphic. These sections are identical to several of the other Lyric Drawing Tool generators and are described in a separate Common Controls page. Note that the RT versions of the generators have certain features missing (fill clips and auto-fade). The control sections for Ovals & Circles include:
