Lyric Shadows Matte
The Lyric Shadows Matte produces a matte that selects the dark or shadow areas in a scene. You can can control the shadow threshold and rolloff.
This matte is most commonlyused as a filter mask, allowing a color-correction or special effect to be applied just to the shadow areas of a scene, for example to darken further the shadow levels without reducing the brightness of the entire of the scene.
The Lyric Shadows Matte filter includes a set of matte and output controls that are common across all Lyric matte filters. For a detailed description of these controls, please see the Matte Common Controls documentation.
For background information on mattes and their uses in Final Cut, please refer to the Lyric Matte Primer.
The Shadow Threshold allows the matte cut-off point to be adjusted to determine the levels of brightness that are to be considered shadows. Higher values selects a greater range of brightness levels, effectively increasing area covered by the matte. Shadow Rolloff controls the smoothness of the threshold.
The Matte Control and Output sections are common controls that are documented on the Matte Common Controls page.
